South Australia
From Dusty Deserts to Shiny Seas
Dominated by deserts in the north of the state, South Australia also has a diverse southern coastline rich in marine fish and bird species. We’re building Australia’s largest restored shellfish reef in the Gulf St Vincent west of Adelaide and are helping to protect the southern stop-off point of many transcontinental migratory birds at the Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary.

Restoring wetlands to fight climate change
Harnessing the powerful carbon capture abilities of coastal wetlands.
Places We Protect
Adelaide oyster reef
Shellfish ecosystems are among the most endangered marine habitats on Earth-with 85% loss worldwide. With the exception of Windara Reef, we have no known native oyster reefs left in South Australia, but we're bringing them back.
